My training includes a wide range of hypnotic techniques, from traditional methods of suggestions therapy with guided imagery and progressive relaxation, to more modern hypnotic techniques using instantaneous hypnotic induction with state-of-the-art therapeutic methods, including the use of NLP techniques in or out of trance, and various regression methods including Natal and Past Life.

Hypnotherapy is an extremely versatile tool. Many people think of hypnotherapy specifically for behavioral issues, and truly this is one arena in which it is highly effective, but there is much more that it can do!

Hypnotherapy really is simply about changing the limiting beliefs held in the subconscious mind. So the question then is “what are the possible effects of ideas held in the subconscious mind?” Understanding the answer to this question is more important than running through a checklist of “conditions I work with.”

One of the most important aspects of the subconscious mind as relates to hypnotherapy is the fact that the subconscious controls the Autonomic Nervous System. This means that most, if not all, nervous functions which are not the result of conscious effort (such as moving your large muscle groups around) are under the influence of subconscious processing. Some of this is obvious: if you are nervous, your heart-rate increases and you begin to sweat. Some are much less obvious: when the mind is stressed, the immune system is suppressed to divert energy to systems needed for a “fight-or-flight” response.

So the subconscious effects immune function, digestive function, reproductive function, and truly almost all of the body’s functions. In some cases, this can result in psychosomatic illness or pain, but often it is just the daily demands of our lives having an averse effect on our bodies and how we feel.

Of course, the subconscious also effects our conscious thought processes as well. Ideas held in the subconscious influence how we perceive our world and ourselves. We often take fore-granted that what our sense tell us is reality, but the truth is that our sense input is highly screened by our minds before we actually “perceive” it. This means that subconscious beliefs actually alter what we see when we look in a mirror, what we hear when we’re being interviewed for a job, what we taste when we eat. We often project a belief out onto everything we experience, whether that belief is supported by our experience or not. Over time, this even causes transfiguration as our belief creates circumstances in our life to substantiate it, and attracts people and conditions which will fit with our belief.

So, my hypnotherapy practice focuses on these core underlying beliefs as the source for true meaningful and lasting change. I do not simply open a medicine cabinet of scripts for: smoking cessation, weight control, pain management, seasonal allergies, coping with grief, accelerated healing and recovery, habit reform, accelerated learning, irritable bowel syndrome, stress management, anxiety, phobias and fears, etc. All these and many more are conditions that can be aided with hypnotherapy’s self-help methodology. But truly each individual has their own unique condition, even if that condition seems to be as routine as “I want to stop smoking!” For this reason, I use a wide range of tools to work with a wide range of issues. Even Natal Regression or Past Life Regression may be used for something like weight loss. It is entirely dependant on the client!

Please remember that HYPNOTHERAPY IS NOT THE PRACTICE OF MEDICINE! It is not a panacea. Though it can be highly effective for a variety of conditions, it should always be considered an adjunctive therapy to be combined with the care of your physician or mental health professional wherever appropriate. If you come to me to work with a physiological condition, please FIRST CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR! For the sake of your own well-being, it is always best for a hypnotherapist to have your doctors diagnosis and consent before working on organic conditions (you do not, for instance, want to eliminate pain from a condition that truly needs immediate allopathic care!) and for your doctor to be aware of all your self-help methods and practices. If you or your doctor want more information about how hypnotherapy can be used as an adjunct to traditional medicine, please check with the International Registry of Medical Support Hypnotherapists at www.medicalsupporthypnotherapy.com
